Many popular Linux environments (such as GNOME, KDE and Enlightenment e17) use icons following the Desktop Entry Specification. This page contains a few icons I’ve made myself, either for obscure applications or with alternative icons.

To access the .desktop file for an application, click the appropriate icon.

To install a downloaded icon, uncompress the file and run the install.sh script.

  • The .desktop file will be stored in ~/.local/share/applications
  • The icon file will be put in ~/.local/share/icons

Note that the installer should be run as your user, and not as root.

All of the files on this page use icons that are supplied with the relevant applications, unless otherwise stated. If you own the copyright on any of these icons and would like me to remove them, please let me know.
